Northwest Allen Parish Water System Improvements

Upgrading the Fairview Water System to serve a large portion of northwestern Allen Parish and a southeastern portion of Vernon Parish required a firm that could coordinate construction of over 125 miles of water mains, two new water wells, a 200,000 gallon ground storage tank and a 100,000 gallon elevated tank. The project also called for the associated control and telemetry system, additional pumping systems and a new office building.

MML&H was chosen to provide the comprehensive engineering design and related services for the $6.2 million project, which was funded through the USDA Rural Development Program, and to provide administration and inspection services on the construction project. In order to complete the project, the firm had to work closely with numerous state and federal agencies, including the Louisiana Departments of Health & Hospitals, Environmental Quality, Transportation and Development, and Wildlife and Fisheries, as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The project was completed in 2012, providing potable water to an estimated 2,000 customers in portions of two rural Louisiana parishes.
