This $1.95 million project was funded by USDA Rural Development. This vital water improvement project was separated into two separate contracts, Contract 1 - Water Distribution, and Contract 2 - Elevated Water Storage Tank. Contract 1 consisted of selected line replacement, installation of air release valves along the existing 20 mile water transmission main, and improvements to the existing water wells and water well site. Contract 2 consisted of installing a 500,000 gallon elevated storage tank. MML&H prepared the Preliminary Engineering Report and funding application, prepared the Environmental Report in accordance with USDA-RD guidelines, and provided design, bidding, and permitting assistance services. Permitting agencies included the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (public water system), US Army Corps of Engineers (wetlands), Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (construction stormwater) and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (Right of Way use and access permitting). MML&H also provided all construction administration and resident inspection services for the project.
